Between stimulus and response or reaction to different circumstances in life, there always exists a brief moment of thought which more often than not is based on something that has happened to us in the past, so when we are presented with a similar situation in the present moment we may very well have a natural tendency to unconsciously identify with it in a similar way.
Even though each of us reacts to stimulus based on what we have learned in life, practising sophrology regularly can help us to gain a better understanding of those experiences and our reactions to them as well as how to consciously change our conditioned responses which helps us enjoy a more positive outlook in life.
With sophrology training we quickly learn how our past experiences can and do influence our emotional reactions and responses to present events, and we also come to understand how the events of the past have a profound effect on the way we see our lives, as well as what we choose to believe about our world in the present moment.
With regular practise of sophrology we learn to experience things in a totally different way than before, putting aside any conditioned responses long enough to stop reacting unconsciously and as a result our reactions and responses then become about what’s happening in the present moment rather than about the past
Sophrology helps us to respond in a progressively positive and empowering way to life events, where we soon come to notice that our negative thoughts lose their power as the new positive thoughts begin to shape our responses and reactions to circumstances.
